Despite this set is part of a Topps product that had just a single edition (or at least as far as I know), and thus could be considered not very popular or at least well received by the collectors, I think this subset is very cool.
Every card features a not so big piece of patch, and almost all serially numbered.
This set is huge if compared to the 2013 Tribute WBC, which has a pretty extensive checklist on its own, and also features cards for big names in the game, that obviously will be the toughest and most expensive to add. To make it even more difficult, the most famous players come with more than one card.
The window that containes the patch is pretty small compared to other products, but the quality of the patches is generally very high.
But since I was able to pick up several cards from the set during an ebay session, why not try to complete it?
At least I have an excuse to add a new page to the blog I've been negalecting lately.
The cards in this set can be numbered to 20, 25, 50, 75 or 99, but in five cases they are not numbered. Funny that Jim Thome alone has 3 not numbered cards, the other being BJ Upton and Hank Blalock.
Interestingly, the last card depicted below (Vernon Wells) is not part of the Checklist I was able to find online.
